European asset manager Candriam has released the Candriam Sustainable Equity Emerging Markets ex-China Fund, aiming to offer investors higher allocation to growth themes in developing economies, while reducing volatility and geopolitical tail risks. Classified as Article 9 under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, the fund encompasses themes including technology and innovation, healthy living, climate change, resource efficiency and waste management, and demographic shifts. Candriam has more than 25 years of experience in emerging markets equities and managed more than €4.3 billion (US$4.7 billion) of assets as of 31 December 2023. The asset manager has an eight-strong emerging markets equity team, which works closely with the firm’s 25 ESG professionals to support sustainable and thematic investment decisions. “As investors continue to search for compelling returns, emerging markets ex-China is proving to be an increasingly attractive market opportunity,” said Paulo Salazar, Head of Emerging Markets Equities at Candriam. “We see an immense potential in this space, which is anticipated to be a key driver of global growth in the coming years, and as such we believe it offers important long-term prospects for investors.”
