The Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), which operates within the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) framework, has greenlit the commencement of the public comment phase for the Climate Change and Energy exposure drafts, approved in response to the escalating global concern over environmental sustainability. Scheduled from 21 November until 29 February 2024 this phase invites stakeholders worldwide to contribute their insights and opinions. The GRI is set to inaugurate two global launch events dedicated to marking the commencement of the public commentary period. These events, slated as global webinars on 28 November, aim to elucidate the key highlights, newly incorporated disclosures, and avenues for active participation in refining these standards for enhanced efficacy. The revisited standards, GRI 302: Energy 2016 and GRI 305: Emissions 2016, underwent substantial modifications, reflecting contemporary expectations and internationally recognised best practices. Developed by an independent technical committee, these drafts integrate inputs from varied stakeholders to ensure inclusivity and relevance.
