The Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), the independent body responsible for developing and setting the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) standards, has appointed three new members. The new members are Rachel Coriat, Head of Stewardship at UK-based Lombard Odier Investment Managers, Tomoo Machiba, Managing Director at Japan-based Zeroboard Research Institute, and Igazeuma Okoroba, Group Head of Sustainability at Nigeria-based Dangote Cement. The board’s membership covers business enterprise, investment institutions, labour organisations, mediating institutions, and civil society. Other board member news at the GSSB, includes the re-appointment of Giulia Genuardi, Head of Sustainability Planning and Performance Management at Italy’s Eni for a second term, and the departure of Kim Schumacher, Joseph Martin and Vincent Kong. There are 15 members on the GSSB, which is chaired by Carol Adams, Professor of Accounting at Durham University Business School, who was appointed 1 April 2023. Members of the GSSB are appointed by the Independent Appointments Committee. These appointments are on a voluntary basis for a three-year term from 1 January 2024.
