Nature Solutions Bolster Investor Toolkit

Sustainability data and analytics provider Matter has expanded its data offering to cover nature-related requirements for asset owners and managers. The data solution enables investors to quantify the degree to which their portfolios are exposed to nature-related criteria, analysing revenue streams coming from companies’ products and services. The tool’s features include layered analysis from asset to portfolio level, and access to granular insights based on rule-based methodologies aligned with reporting requirements. The solution builds on Matter’s data offering, encompassing key metrics and actionable insights on multiple ESG themes – including the climate transition. Matter stressed that adding nature data would support investors with their reporting on existing and emerging regulatory frameworks, such as the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures. “The decline in biodiversity and degradation of natural capital is extremely concerning, and historically a very complex area to report on,” said Lise Pretorius, Chief Sustainability Analysis Officer at Matter. “The launch of our new solution will help investors and businesses currently facing increasing pressure to consider nature as part of their investment strategies.” Separately, nature intelligence company NatureMetrics has released NATUREscore, a freely accessible tool for businesses to score their performance in nature stewardship. The maturity assessment tool evaluates a company’s current performance towards nature-positive action, outlining pathways for enhancement, and supporting planning and discussion. The tool aims to improve monitoring of nature performance across value chains and benchmarking activities between business units and functions, as well as enhance internal communications.
